Over the weekend we received a letter from the McCarthy Family. We met this family briefly when we were all at Avery’s Race to Cure SMA…The McCarthy’s have a beautiful Son with SMA named Braden……
To Sophia’s Cure Foundation
Our son Braden was born with type 2 SMA. On August 20th 2011 some friends of ours held a benefit dart tournament with Braden being the inspiration and guest of honor. The idea was spearheaded by a man by the name of Brian Pfeffer and he was joined by John Martyka to put it all together. The tournament was held at Club Paragon in Grennfild Wisconsin and the tournament was ran by Brian, John and employees of Reds Novelty located in West Allis Wisconsin. Club Paragon ran specials with money going to the benefit, Reds donated all the money that went into the dartboards and may of the participants that won money in the tournament gave it right back. There were great raffle prizes that brought in money and even donations from people who could not attend that day. We would like to donate this money to Sophia’s Cure Foundation and hope to make it an annual event.
Thank you Tim, Leslie and especially Braden McCarthy
We are so honored and humbled by the McCarthy’s generous donation, we all know none of us can do this alone but working together we will CURE SMA!!!!
