Hope for Charleston Event a Huge Success!

I have always been impressed with the Goeppert family. I have been amazed how quickly Cash’s mom Ashley was able to grasp the different options for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and to apply them to provide Cash the best possible care. I love the way Cash is included in everything they do. I must admit sometimes I find myself learning from them, new ways to keep Sophia stimulated. It goes to show we are advancing as a community.  I am honored to know this family.

Teri is Cash’s super grandma. She recently made slings for Sophia to help her with her movement and Sophia just loves them……. I had the great pleasure of meeting Teri while I was in California. You become so attached to other SMA families through social networks and this was a great opportunity to meet Teri in person. We went to breakfast together and it just  felt like I was with a family member that I hadn’t seen in awhile.

Cash’s crew has been tirelessly raising funds for Dr. Kaspar’s Gene Therapy program. They have done many events since Cash’s diagnosis and the most recent one the “Hope for Charleston” bake sale at Flying Colors Comics was a huge success. Ashley was hoping they could raise $500 at this bake sale. When the final numbers were being calculated it was just over $2,000! What an amazing accomplishment, Thank you Cash and the entire Goeppert family!
